The research group of Professor Song, Hongqing has made significant progress in geothermal water reservoir development and optimization of heating system. The group originally proposed a thermal–hydraulic–mechanical coupling model and multi-objective optimization for geothermal heating systems with variable temperature regulation. In terms of the method, there are great application results in Qingfeng County, because the optimal geothermal development mode and system parameters can be established after joint numerical simulation. Applied Energy, an international top energy academic journal, published this important research progress online under the title of Investigation on geothermal water reservoir development and utilization with variable temperature regulation: a case study of China.
Geothermal heating technology is an important technique for alleviation of energy crisis and environmental pollution. Considering the technical and economic challenges as well as the uneven distribution of geothermal resources, the research team, in cooperation with MIT, proposed the approach to obtain good results for geothermal reservoir development after long-term research. The mathematical model and multi-objective optimization model can provide references for utilization of geothermal heating technology in other places with similar conditions.
